Frequently Asked Questions
What is your set up and arrival time...?
The band needs 1 hour to set up and sound check and another 20 minutes to get changed, ready to perform. As standard the band will arrive at a said venue between 6pm - 6.30pm and will pack down at midnight, remember make sure you've spoken to the band leader if these timings are not convenient.
Will you bring sound & lighting...?
Elbowroom will provide a full PA system, and stage lighting only. Elbowroom have various PA's which range from a 2k rig for small venues (10-50 people) to a 6k rig for the larger venues (50 - 150 people), anything exceeding 200 people, additional PA will need to be hired. Additional dance floor lighting will be provided by a DJ.
How big does the stage/performance area need to be...?
The stage area should be a minimum 6m in depth by 8m in width (if possible). If a stage is not available then it will be fine for them to play on the floor as long as we can have the same sized area/space.
We have a sound detector/limiter...?
If possible please arrange for any sound limiters to be isolated in the area of the stage. Please also note that volume sensors are undesirable as they could cause damage to their equipment. If this applies then please contact the band leader Anthony as soon as possible,
How much power/electrically points do you need...?
The venue needs to supply an adequate safety earth mains supply with 4 or more separate normal 13 amp sockets. Power for the band should be local to the stage and not more than 10 metres distance. It should be available from the time the band are on-site. Any delay can cause the late start of the show. Note: Marques - please also note that dishwashers and bar equipment can cause a drop if on the same supply as the band. This can cause disruption to your evening as equipment such as processors will not operate. If any of the above cannot be supplied an external generator will be required.
If you have anymore questions please feel free to ask
How will you load & unload your equipment...?
Sufficient car parking spaces need to be available during the loading & unloading of the equipment, this needs to be as close to the staged area as possible. Vehicles can then be moved after loading or unloading has taken place. Where car-parking fees are incurred by the band/crew they need to be refunded by the client they will claim for a maximum of 2 vehicles only. It will be much appreciated if suitable parking and a safe, clear access is made available to the function room prior to the band's arrival. Any flights of stairs or lifts should be made aware to the band prior to the day. Most heavy flight cases will however need the use of a lift. This ensures that the equipment is both loaded into the venue and out from the venue (following the event) in a speedy, safe manner.
Do I need to organise a dressing room or changing area…?
A secure changing area or a room large enough for seven people is required, if the changing facility can not be secured then the venue need to provide a safe deposit box or a safe for valuables such as keys, money, phones etc during the performance. The toilets are not a suitable place for the band to change into stage attire.
Will you need food...?
Elbowroom can be at a said venue for up to 10 hours in some cases and it isn't always possible to leave the venue to go in search of food due to location and the time factors. Therefore some kind of refreshment - either a few sandwiches or a hot meal would be gratefully appreciated; this is usually required around 8pm before the performance.
What happens when the band arrives...?
When they arrive at your venue they will go straight to reception and let someone know there on site. They will find the best access route to your suite/room and wait for instructions from your event coordinator or the room manager. Once they have the go ahead to access your room it will be all steam ahead, please try not to disrupt the band at this crucial setup time as it may hold up the timings. Once the band has completed their set up and sound check they will need somewhere to change into stage attire, relax and wait for their performance times. Remember there are 7 people in this band and you wouldn't want them hanging around at the bar, so they'd prefer to be out of the way….i'd recommend an unused meeting room, if you could also instruct your venue to provide the band with refreshments i.e.: soft drinks only and a selection of either sandwiches or a hot meal to their room before 8pm as it's very energetic work and they won't be arriving at their homes until the small hours….
